Our Approach

Coaching Philosophy

🧠

Player-Centered

Every coaching decision is made for the player's benefit — not the scoreboard. We believe winning matters, but not more than learning.

🌱

Long-Term Development

We follow USSF player development guidelines. Short-term results are never prioritized over a player's long-term growth and enjoyment.

🤝

Positive Environment

Zero tolerance for negative coaching, parent sideline behavior, or intimidation. Every child is celebrated for effort and improvement.

🎓

Certified Coaches

All Liga Houston youth coaches hold a minimum USSF D-License. Head coaches at U14/U17 hold a C-License or higher. Background checks required.

Child Safety

Safety Policies

Every child's safety is our highest priority. Non-negotiable.

🔍 Background Checks

All coaches, volunteers, and staff who interact with youth players must pass a criminal background check before the season begins.

👥 Two-Adult Rule

No coach or adult volunteer is ever alone with a child. Two adults must be present at all times during training and games.

🏥 Concussion Protocol

Liga Houston follows the "When In Doubt, Sit Them Out" rule. Any suspected concussion results in immediate removal and clearance required before return.

☀️ Heat Safety

Houston summer heat protocols strictly observed. Mandatory water breaks, wet bulb temperature monitoring, and session cancellation thresholds enforced.

⛈️ Weather Policy

Lightning within 8 miles = immediate suspension of all activity for minimum 30 minutes. League coordinator makes all weather calls — no exceptions.

📋 Medical Forms

All registered youth players must have an emergency contact form, medical release, and physician sign-off on file before the first game.
